Working Group 2 - Research and networking in neuromodulation

Initiated by Lorena Chanes & Jerome Brunelin

Leaders: Lais Razza & Burak Yulug

The primary goal of Working Group 2 (WG2) is to foster collaboration and networking among researchers, clinicians, and research/clinical centers across Europe, with the aim of advancing research and clinical application in (non)-invasive brain stimulation. Our efforts are centered around three core objectives to drive this mission forward:

1. Networking and Collaboration

WG2 places a strong emphasis on building connections between clinicians and researchers working on the basic, preclinical, and clinical aspects of NIBS. To achieve this, we are creating a robust network of professionals with a shared goal. Currently, this is facilitated through discussions of clinical studies, regular meetings to share updates on ongoing research, exchange ideas, and identify opportunities for collaboration and synergy.

2. Development of a Large Clinical Trial

One of our most ambitious goals is to initiate a large, multi-center platform trial focused on the application of NIBS. This initiative aims to combine the expertise and resources of multiple research centers across Europe, creating a comprehensive trial that will generate robust data to drive the field forward.

3. Large Prospective Database

Another key objective is the development of a shared database that will allow researchers across Europe to pool clinical and research data related to NIBS. This large-scale retrospective database will facilitate the investigation of critical questions in the field that are difficult to address through conventional randomized controlled trials (RCTs).

Through these initiatives, WG2 is working to create a stronger, more connected brain stimulation research and clinical community across Europe, ultimately enhancing the rigor, reproducibility, and impact of brian stimulation applications
